How do I play?

A quantum computing term is hidden as blanks. Type a letter or click it. If the letter is in the term, it appears in every place it occurs. If not, a line is added to the drawing. Find the whole term before the drawing is finished or the time runs out.

Only the letters A to Z are guessed. Spaces, digits and punctuation are shown from the start. Accented letters count as their plain letter, so O finds the ö in Schrödinger.

Which game should I pick?

10-word game: ten terms, one total score. Endless: play until you miss three terms. Daily challenge: five terms, the same for everyone, new every day at midnight UTC, one try per day. Practice: no score, and the timer can be turned off.

What do hints cost?

Showing the topic costs 25 points. Showing the subtopic costs 50, and is available after the topic. Revealing a letter costs 30 each time, and never reveals the last missing letter.

Which keys can I use?

Letters guess. 1, 2 and 3 take the three hints. Enter goes to the next word.

How are points counted?

For a solved term: 10 points for each different letter, multiplied by the difficulty (easy 1, medium 1.5, hard 2, expert 3). Add 2 points for each second left. Take away 10 for each wrong guess and the cost of any hints. A missed term scores nothing.

How do the worldwide totals work?

The all-time total adds up every game you add to the worldwide leaderboard, under the same name in the same browser, so the more you play, the higher you climb. "This week" counts games since Monday (UTC).

Is the worldwide leaderboard fair?

Mostly. Scores are worked out in each player's browser, so someone determined could send a fake one. Impossible scores are refused, and obvious fakes are removed.

What is stored about me?

Your scores, progress and settings stay in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you press "Add my score", which sends your chosen name and your score.
